Obituary for RUSSEL LEE PALMER

Russell Palmer, 79, of Fulton entered the gates of Heaven on October 24, 2017.



He was born on July 10, 1938 in Callaway County, the son of the late William H. Palmer and the late Arbelle (Burton) Palmer.  Russell lost his mother at a young age and was raised by his maternal grandmother, Katherine Gross, who preceded him in death in 1999.



Russell was married to Gwendolyn Bradford who passed away in 1977.



At a young age, Russell was baptized at Second Christian Church.  He attended grade school at Carver School. Russell started high school at Lincoln Laboratory High School in Jefferson City and moved to Fulton High School when it became integrated.  Russell worked at Fulton State Hospital for more than 20 years before being employed at AZZ, where he remained until his retirement.  He also worked at the old Callaway Hospital and Harbison Walker.  Russell’s hobbies included sitting in Carver Park in his red truck, hunting, fishing and watching old western movies.



Those remaining to mourn his passing include his children, Charlotte Galbreath (Jeff) of Fulton, Kathryn Sharpe (Carl) of Jefferson City, and Darrell Palmer of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Monique Palmer-Buford (LaRon) of Kansas City, Jeremey Palmer (Tonya) of Topeka, Ks., Ayesha Palmer of Olathe, Ks., Martina Jackson of Kansas City, Anthony Kemp, Sr. (Monique) of Springfield, Michaela Palmer of Jefferson City, LaQuent Palmer (Tina) of Columbia, and Zachery Galbreath of Fulton; great-grandchildren, Demetrick Buford, Shentariyae Brown, Andrea and Amari Riley, Jasmine Palmer, Amerius Riley, Braylen Palmer, Jalen Palmer, Adrienne Spencer, and Mercedes, Anthony Jr., and Porcha Kemp, Tijhani, Carl and Makyla Jackson; great-great-grandchild, Isaiah Broyles; brothers-in-law, Raymond Bradford (Johnnie Mae) of Meridian, Ms., Myron Bradford (LaFrancine) of Valdosta, Ga., Terry Bradford and William Bradford of Kansas City; sisters-in-law, Patricia Warren (Joe) of Kansas City, and Martha Bradford of Seattle, Wa.; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends that considered Russell their dad.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Second Christian Church in Fulton with Reverend Cedric Harris officiating.  Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.  Interment will be in Southside Cemetery.
