Obituary for Tyrell Thomas Pittman

Tyrell Thomas Pittman, 33, of Jefferson City passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018.

He was born April 18, 1985 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Natalie Johnson (Arlander) of Fulton and Darrin J. McBride of Columbia.

Tyrell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He attended Fulton Public Schools and graduated with a degree specializing in Culinary Arts from Excelsior Springs Job Center in Excelsior Springs, Missouri in 2002.

Tyrell loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest, never meeting a stranger. He had a contagious smile that drew many into his circle of friends. With that step-by-faith compassion and love, he ventured into his own business of Rello’s BBQ. He traveled all over Mid-Missouri showcasing his talent and cooking skills, meeting new acquaintances at every stop.

He was known to his mother, family, and friends as The Gentle Giant. He tended to intimidate people at first glance but upon interacting with him, you would find out he was a gentle giant.

Tyrell’s memory will be cherished by his mother Natalie and step-father, Arlander “A.J.” Johnson of Fulton; father, Darrin J. McBride of Columbia; sisters, Tiffany Anderson (Bernard Henderson) of Jefferson City, Goldie L. McBride of Columbia; brothers, Arlander J. Johnson III of Salina, Ks., and Jeremy D. Johnson of Canada; significant other, Anna Wefenstette of Jefferson City; grandparents, Rita Clarke (Vernon), James Pittman Sr. (Mary Kay), all of Fulton; God children, Lamar Scott Jr., Jozhanae Long, Dairae-Ja Scott, Bre-Awn Richmond, Avarius Long, Arijah Long, and Chazlyn Long; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and an abundance of friends.

He was greeted in heaven by grandparents, Ruth Ann and Percy McBride Sr; great-grandparents, Betty Brandt, Ernestine Lee, Nannie Ellington and Woodrow Ellington; and uncle, Robert Pittman Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Victory Fellowship Church in Fulton with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Southside Cemetery. Repast will be at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church.

Memorial donations are suggested to Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.

Condolences may be left for the family on this site.
