DEREK EBERSOLE MANAGER, LICENSED FUNERAL DIRECTOR, LICENSED PRENEED AGENT

Derek Ebersole was born and raised in Fulton, graduating from Fulton High School in 1990. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1990 – 1994, serving a tour in the Persian Gulf. After returning to Fulton, he acquired his Funeral Directors License and worked in the funeral industry until 1999. He owned and operated Ebersole Trash Service from 1999 until selling the business in 2011. He joined Maupin Funeral Home in March 2011, assuming the manager position in August of the same year. Derek is the father of three wonderful children, Jordan, McKayla, and Haylee.

COURTNEY (PLYBON) CUSTARD LICENSED FUNERAL DIRECTOR, LICENSED EMBALMER AND LICENSED PRENEED AGENT

Courtney received her degree in Funeral Science and graduated with honors in 2020 from Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. Courtney is also part of the National Funeral Service Honor Society.  She is passionate about serving her community during their time of need. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with husband and children and being outdoors.

BETTY THOMAS FUNERAL ASSISTANT

Betty Thomas has been a Funeral Service Attendant with Maupin Funeral Home since 2005. She is very dedicated and passionate about serving others. She is a resident of Fulton, MO, and graduated from South Callaway R-11.

 

Betty loves cooking, decorating and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is married to Alan and has one son, Clint Cox.

WILL SHACKELFORD FUNERAL ASSISTANT

I am a husband, grandfather, and great grandfather. Our family roots have been in Callaway Country ever since I can remember. I was honored to serve our country with the U S Coast Guard enlisting in 1969 during the Vietnam war. I attended the University of Missouri. After 22 years of law enforcement, I am semi-retired and continue to serve as a transport officer for Callaway County Sheriff's Office. In 2022, I joined Maupin Funeral Home as a Funeral Assistant. I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Callaway County in their hour of great loss.

CRYSTAL MORRIS FUNERAL ASSISTANT, PRENEED AGENT

Crystal Morris is a Licensed Preneed Agent and Apprentice Funeral Director. She was born and raised in Fulton and is a 1990 graduate of Fulton High School and a 2007 graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, with a BSN RN degree in nursing. Crystal is a member of the Fulton Branch of the NAACP, a board commissioner for the Fulton Housing Authority, a member of 100 Black Women in Funeral Service, and the President of the Health Unit for her Church, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton. She is also employed at Callaway Hospital as the Utilization Review Nurse/ Discharge Planner.

 

Her hobbies are reading, listening to gospel music and spending time with her family. Her husband is Robby Morris and they have 3 children, Nathan, Charles, and Jonathan, and 2 grandchildren, Allie and Haven.

 

“I believe working in the funeral business offers me the personal satisfaction of helping individuals in their time of need. Being there for someone at a time like that is invaluable. For these reasons there is no greater reward than being a part of Maupin Funeral Home.”

MCKAYLA EBERSOLE FUNERAL ASSISTANT

Mckayla Ebersole was born and raised in Fulton, graduating from Fulton High School in 2013. Following graduation she went to Moberly Area Community College to complete a general studies degree. Two years later she graduated with a General Studies Associates of Arts Degree. She is now at William Woods University finishing up her Bachelors in Business Administration. She is a part-time teller at Exchange Bank of Missouri. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her family. She is involved in Chi Omega Sorority at William Woods University and within this organization she in the Community Service Director. McKayla has one older brother named Jordan Holland and one younger sister named Haylee Ebersole.

CLAY CHISM FUNERAL ASSISTANT

 

Clay Chism joined the Maupin staff as a Funeral Assistant in April, 2004.  Clay is a lifelong Callaway County resident, as is his wife, Jennifer Chism.  Clay and Jennifer are the proud parents of Baylee and Kynslee Chism.     Clay is a graduate of the North Callaway High School, obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri, and later obtained a Master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College.  Clay began his law enforcement career with the Callaway County Sheriff's Office in September, 2000, where he has remained ever since.  Most recently, in January, 2017, Clay became the elected Sheriff of Callaway County.   Clay has previously served as a board member of CARD-V and the Callaway County Ambulance District.  Clay is currently a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was recently appointed to the State of Missouri Child Justice Act task force, a state appointed board in Jefferson City.
