Obituary for Norman Earl Barnett

Norman Earl Barnett, 77, of New Bloomfield was called to his Heavenly home on Saturday, March 17, 2018.

He was born in Collinsville, Illinois on November 2, 1940, the son of the late Earl Sylvester Barnett and the late Geneva (Whaley) Barnett.

On November 6, 1965, Norman was married to Theresa (Spahr) Barnett. She survives his passing.

Norman proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Union Electric where he worked as a Control Room Supervisor. Norman was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, making many trips to Texas to do both. He was a tournament fisherman but time spent fishing with his grandchildren brought him the most joy. Norman was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Theresa; daughters, Denise Bartlett (Scott) of Jefferson City, and Karla Carter (Chad) of Weston; brothers, Jerry Barnett of Collinsville, and Terry Barnett of Brussels, Il.; and grandchildren, Preston Costello, Makenzie FitzSimmons, Connor Costello, Avery FitzSimmons, and Cody Carter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Holts Summit with Father Joe Corel officiating. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Andrews Cemetery in Holts Summit.

Memorial donations are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
