Obituary for Kay S. Tremaine

Kay S. Tremaine, 76, of New Bloomfield went to be with the Lord on, June 19, 2018.

She was born in Mexico, Missouri on July 13, 1941, to the late Richard Ross Murphy and the late Gladys Bernice (Acuff) Murphy. She grew up on her family’s dairy farm east of New Bloomfield.

She attended New Bloomfield Schools and graduated high school with the senior class of 1959. She continued her education at Lincoln University.

Kay was united in marriage to Roice “Sonny” Payne on February 1, 1961. Two children were born of that union; son, Scotty Blair Payne (Dana), and daughter, Kamla Rae Payne. She was married to John Tremaine on November 28, 1992, who survives at their home.

Kay worked at Central Trust Bank (Motor Bank) in Jefferson City for 8 years. In 1973, Kay was employed by First National Bank, which later became Bank Star One. She began as a teller, became Branch Manager, and retired as Vice President after 30 years of service. Kay was a life-long member of New Bloomfield Christian Church.

Kay had a beautiful fashion sense and style which showed in her home, clothes and in her wide assortment of jewelry. Kay was a special, very positive person, and loved spending time with her family. Anyone was lucky to call her a friend. She liked to work hard but knew how to have fun. Kay had a great sense of humor, a memorable smile, and was a wonderful story teller, much to the delight of all who knew her. Most of all, she drew her strength from her Lord and Savior to make it through this life with direction and grace.

In addition to her husband and children, Kay is survived by brother, Richard Dale Murphy of Los Angeles, Ca.; grandchildren, Blair Lee Payne, Tanner Murphy Payne, and Justin L. Hawkins; niece and nephew, Jina Johnson (Glen) of New Bloomfield, and Jay Trammell (Angie) of Mokane, and their families, nephews, John and Chad Payne of Texas; and many cousins.

Along with her parents, Kay was preceded in death by brother, Ross Dick Murphy; and sister, Judy Trammell.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at New Bloomfield Christian Church with Pastor Joe Gibson officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorial donations are suggested to New Bloomfield Christian Church Handicapped Services, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.

Condolences may be left for the family on this site.
